Today's "In the News" is a bit late in the day. I apologize. I was at a meeting all day out of town. But, I'm back. I appreciate your loyalty.

I have taken out the word verification in my comments so go ahead and feel free to comment. I will post anything that isn't a link to something I believe is questionable. I'm not into those who abuse the internet.

The federal tax bill for President Bush and his wife: $221,635. Their adjusted gross income of $923,807 for the year 2007, according to a joint return . Their income total includes a $150,000 advance received by Laura Bush for the children's book she co-authored with her daughter, Jenna.Last year, the president and Mrs. Bush paid $186,378 in federal taxes on their income of $765,801.Bush's salary as president is about $400,000. Approximately, one third of his income comes from investments.

A field trip for a College class was different than most. A dozen Randolph College students toured the Chicken Ranch, a legal bordello in the desert 60 miles outside Las Vegas. The class trip, which included seminars from the working girls, capped a course on American consumption and "the ideas that consume us." the Chicken Ranch, welcome the publicity.

"We're always open to trying to educate the public about legalized prostitution," said Chicken Ranch general manager Debbie Rivenburgh, who acknowledged this was the first class tour request she'd received in 21 years. With a tour and time to mingle, the students packed up gift bags containing a menu of services, a Chicken Ranch key chain and a brochure.

A lawsuit against the photo agency and two paparazzi who allegedly filmed Heath Ledger in a hotel room where drugs were being taken claims that the late actor was also using cocaine that night. The lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court by a woman who was not named, alleges that two Splash News paparazzi lured Ledger up to her room at the Chateau Marmont Hotel on Jan. 29, 2006. It says they gave him cocaine and secretly filmed the actor, who also had some of his own cocaine.

My Kudos of the week goes to an 85-year-old legally blind golfer from southern Arizona made a hole-in-one this week on a par-3 course. Robert Dunham accomplished the feat on the third hole at Tortuga in Green Valley.
