RNC
John McCain hailed as 'his own man'

Things seem to be getting back to normal now that Gustav has passed.

At the RNC, - Sen. Joe Lieberman, the Democratic vice presidential pick eight years ago who now says he's an independent,last night criticized his former party's nominee as an untested candidate unwilling to challenge powerful interest groups. Fred Thompson led the the night going full-speed, berating "Washington pundits and media big shots" who have questioned her experience as a first-term governor of Alaska.

It's been two days of silence. We will now hear from, Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin. Palin will step to center stage at the Republican National Convention to prove to delegates that she can help John McCain win the White House despite distracting questions about her family life and qualifications.

FYI
Bloomberg is reporting - The smart money thinks there's a better chance today than yesterday that John McCain will dump Sarah Palin as his running mate.

Barack Obama is at 50 % , for the first time , in the Gallup daily tracking poll, a symbolic hurdle that until now had eluded the Democratic nominee.

Ike is forecast to cross into the Caribbean as a hurricane on Saturday or Sunday. Ike is heading toward the Caribbean at 17 mph with top wind speeds of 65 mph, the hurricane center said at 5 p.m. ET

In Case You Care...

Remember Lindsey Lohan?
Her MySpace blog had a lot of visits and comments yesterday as she posted the following;

I've been watching the news all morning, like everyone else - and i keep hearing about the issues related to 'teen pregnancy'- It's all related to Sarah Palin and her 17 year old unmarried pregnant daughter. Well, I think the real problem comes from the fact that we are taking the focus off of getting to know Sarah Palin and her political views, and what she can do to make our country a less destructive place. Its distracting from the real issues, the real everyday problems that this country experiences.

I am concerned with the fact that Sarah Palin brought the attention to her daughter's pregnancy, rather than all world issues and what she believes she could possibly do to change them-if elected. I get Sarah Palin's views against abortion, but i would much prefer to hear more about what she can do for our country rather than how her daughter is going to have a child no matter what.
