Pastor arrested for Snakes
The pastor of a Kentucky church that handles snakes in religious rites was among 10 people arrested by wildlife officers in a crackdown on the venomous snake trade.Handling snakes is practiced in a handful of fundamentalist churches across Appalachia, based on the interpretation of Bible verses saying true believers can take up serpents without being harmed. The practice is illegal in most states, including Kentucky.
More than 100 snakes, many of them deadly, were confiscated in the undercover sting.The snakes included 42 copperheads, 11 timber rattlesnakes, three cottonmouth water moccasins, a western diamondback rattlesnake, two cobras and a puff adder.

Handing out cash in Iraq
Iraq's Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki, and a handful of other top officials are handing out cash to people on the street as they plead for help.
The handouts by are authorized — as long as each goes no higher than about $8,000, and the same people don't get them twice. Aides say they are meant merely to ease the pain a bit, and are motivated by a belief that better conditions will lead to more security.
The cash handouts are thought of as an investment by Iraq's government. to rebuild jumpstart Iraq's damaged economy by quickly distributing as much of the country's glut of oil revenue as possible. Did someone say "glut of oil revenue?"
