Finally, an end ?
Brett Favre's journey to and from retirement and back... seems to have found a near to ending, or maybe just a start to the 4th quarter. The Green Bay Packers reached an agreement to trade their three-time MVP and Super Bowl-winning quarterback to the New York Jets, ending an emotionally grinding month, for all of us, of indecision over Favre's future.

Tremayne A. Durham, 34, of Brooklyn, N.Y., remains in custody on burglary and other charges related to a murder aaccording to a spokesman for the Gresham Police Department.The New York man pleaded guilty to murder in Oregon in exchange for buckets of fried chicken will get calzones and pizza to go with his life sentence.

JD Powers Speaks about Dependability


The annual results on auto dependability have been posted. Lexus earns six model awards and Toyota earns five, combining to capture more than half of the segment awards. Lexus is also the highest-ranked nameplate in the study, and has ranked highest each year since becoming eligible for the VDS in 1990. It's the 14th straight year Toyota Motor Corp.'s high-end brand has held the highest ranking in the annual study, which measures problems experienced by the original owners of vehicles after three years. Lexus had 120 problems per 100 vehicles, down from 145 last year.

By segment, Lexus took top honors in six categories for its IS 300, ES 300 and LS 300 sedans, the SC 430 coupe, and the GX 470 and LX 470 utility vehicles. Toyota led four categories and tied Honda for a fifth. Toyota's Prius hybrid was the top-ranked vehicle in the compact car segment.

Are gas prices falling?

Oil is down to $120 a barrel (remember earlier this summer- $150). Retail gasoline prices fell extending a downward trend for the 21st straight day, according to a survey of gas stations.

The national average price for a gallon of regular gas fell to $3.849 from $3.862 the previous day. That's down more than 6% from the record high of $4.114 that gas prices hit on July 16.But gas prices remain high in historical terms. Thursday's national average price is more than $1 higher than it was a year ago.

In Alaska, the state with the highest prices, drivers pay an average of $4.624 a gallon. Hawaii, the state with the second highest prices, saw average prices rise slightly to $4.476 from $4.468. California, the state in third place, saw prices slip to $4.177 on average.

Oklahoma remains the state with the lowest gas prices. The average price in the state is $3.609 a gallon. In Missouri, the next cheapest state for gas, drivers paid $3.617 on average, followed by Minnesota at $3.630 a gallon.
